Richard D. Wilkes, DVM, CEO and Founder – Dr. Wilkes has owned and practiced in multiple veterinary hospitals for three decades. He is currently CEO of Purchasing Services, Inc., the oldest and largest veterinary GPO in the US, bringing the finest people, products and services to veterinarians nationwide who want a competitive advantage without sacrificing the freedom to operate independently.Throughout his career, Dr. Wilkes, has been actively involved in all aspects of organized veterinary medicine. He has served as President of the Pinellas County Veterinary Medical Society, the Pinellas Animal Foundation, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and the Emergency Animal Hospital, Inc. He has been a Committee Member of the Marine Mammal Foundation, the Wildlife Committee of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Pinellas Animal Control Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, where he served as an AVMAPAC member.
Dr. Wilkes received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1979. He has been honored numerous times, receiving the 2006 American Veterinary Medical Association’s Russell H. Anthony Award and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s Veterinarian of the Year Award. In 2007, he received the Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Wilkes lives in St. Petersburg where he enjoys running, swimming, diving, fishing and flying.
Dan Jones, DVM, Director of Business Development – Dr. Jones is a Veterinarian who has been an independent veterinary practice owner for more than 30 years. He has owned and operated two general medicine practices from 1987 through 1999, and he still owns an emergency specialty practice. Dr. Jones is currently the Director of Business Development for Purchasing Services Inc. (PSI), and has held that position for the last five years. His main responsibility at PSI is new member growth. During his time at PSI, membership has grown by more than 800 members. Dan’s background includes 13 years with Banfield in numerous positions from practicing veterinarian to Vice President of Medical Leadership.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1980 and completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 from Auburn University.
Dan’s hobbies are golf, fishing and travel. His wife Cassie is a respiratory therapist in a neonatal intensive care unit. Together, they have two adult daughters Angela and Kelly, and two granddaughters, Acacia and Margo.
Patricia McNamara, DVM, Director of Membership Services – Dr. McNamara has been with Purchasing Services since 2000. She oversees PSI’s network of Area Managers, visits member practices and is responsible for all sales analytics.She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University SVM, after completed her Senior Rotation at Louisiana State University SVM. Her background includes working in a feline exclusive practice, a small animal/exotics practice and she held an internship at the Houston Zoo. Dr. McNamara’s business background comes from growing up in very successful restaurants and a hotel. She went on to work for a large restaurant corporation while completing her undergraduate degree, where she won awards for inventory control.
Dr. McNamara is published in the Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine: Myelogenous Leukemia in a Bearded Dragon (Acanthodraco vitticeps). She is a member of the AVMA, FVMA, AQHA and ADGA. While Dr. McNamara is away from home, her Quarter Horses and LaMancha goats enjoy her 10-acre, lake front farm.
Patrick McCarthy, Director of Operations – Pat McCarthy joined PSI in July, 2013 as the Director of Operations. Since joining PSI, Mr. McCarthy has been focused on developing strategic vendor relationships. He is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of the PSI debit card rebate program and is involved in staff training and development.
Prior to joining PSI, Mr. McCarthy was the Vice President of Operations at Pet Partners, a veterinary practice consolidator. He oversaw the purchasing department, was responsible for the implementation of operational efficiencies and reducing expenses. He also led staff training and development. Before joining Pet Partners, Mr. McCarthy was the Sr. Manager of Corporate/Strategic Accounts at IDEXX Laboratories. Pat led a team who was responsible for the sales, marketing, finance, education and implementation of IDEXX’s complete portfolio of products and services for corporate and strategic account customers in North America.
Previously, Mr. McCarthy worked in the chemical industry for Buckman Laboratories, a Memphis-based, global chemical company. He held several roles and was promoted to Regional Manager for the Northeast where he oversaw the sales and technical support for a team of 20 before he had a career change and joined IDEXX Laboratories. Pat holds a BS in biology with a minor in chemistry from Lycoming College, an MS in environmental studies from Duke University, and an MBA from the University at Albany, NY.
Pat lives in St. Petersburg, FL and is married with three children. His hobbies include fitness, music, sports, traveling and all things outdoors.
